AAA Helps Spread Holiday Cheer

Phoenix, Ariz., Dec., 21, 2010. AAA Arizona is doing its part to spread cheer this holiday season. The auto club’s recent charitable efforts will help make the season a little bit brighter for more than 1,500 Arizonans.

“The generosity of AAA members and employees never ceases to amaze me,” said Mike Tully, president and CEO of AAA Arizona. “I couldn’t be more proud of our organization for doing so much to make the holidays brighter for those in need.”

One of the club’s holiday efforts consisted of joining forces with KPHO-TV and KOLD-TV for a stuffed stocking drive to benefit the Arizona’s Children Association. More than 1,400 stockings filled with gifts were collected at AAA offices across the state and delivered to Arizona families in early December. This is 40 percent above the club’s 1,000 stocking goal.

Employees also adopted local families through the Family Service Agency. A total of 30 families were adopted, which equates to 85 children and 34 adults. This represents a 50 percent increase over what the club collected for the agency last year.

“Even though the donors will not be able to see the families’ faces, they will be ecstatic to see that people really do care,” said Monica Gray of Family Service Agency. “We thank AAA Arizona and the whole team for making Christmas special for them.”

In addition, the auto club recently concluded its annual United Way campaign, through which employees donated more than $130,000 to the organization.

AAA Arizona, the Arizona affiliate of AAA, provides automotive, insurance and auto travel services more than 800,000 Arizona members.  Annually, AAA’s Emergency Road Service responds to more than 450,000 calls for help on the streets and highways of the state as well as providing insurance, travel, and financial services to AAA members and motorists.  Since its founding in 1927, AAA Arizona has been a leading advocate for the safety and security of all travelers.  In 2008, AAA was ranked the No. 1 “socially responsible” brand by Landor’s BrandAsset® Valuator.
